The Surrey Manufactured Home Owners Association was formed during the 1960s and was registered as a Non Profit organization under the Societies Act in 1963.  The Association, along with other Associations throughout British Columbia, has fought for and gained many improvements to our lifestyle during that time.  These included the Manufactured Home Owners Residential Tenancy Act which included the owners of mobile homes in mobile homes parks for the first time, and which gave us certain benefits and protections from outrageous rent increases and landlords taking advantage of us.  This has now been taken away through the passing of Bill 27 and puts our lifestyle in jeopardy.  We also were instrumental in obtaining the Safer Program for Seniors, which gives low income seniors help with their rent, so they do not have to move when their rent is raised by the landlord.

In order to keep fighting for your and your rights we need members in every park.

We are an umbrella association for all mobile home parks in Surrey, as well as parks throughout the Fraser Valley who wish to join our organization.  Our executive meets on a regular basis to carry out the work of the association; meetings for the general membership are held 3 to 4 times a year, usually from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on a Saturday.  Date, time and place for these meetings is set out in our newsletters which are published 4 to 5 times per year.

We encourage all members to attend these meetings.  This is your association and the executive requires your input, support and encouragement to carry out the mandate of the association, which is as follows:
to take an active interest in the civic, social and general welfare of the community; and to promote and protect the rights and interests of the members of the Association as owners of and dwellers in manufactured homes.

We thank you for your support.
